Traditional Bali Shadow Puppet Show
Shadow puppetry, or wayang Bali, known as the most important theatrical expression Bali. Bali is derived from the pre-Hindu culture and Hindu influences. The pieces are usually based on stories from the Hindu epic Ramayana and the Mahabharata. They communicate Bali history, religious and spiritual teachings, poetry and philosophy. The characters are half-gods, demons, the magic of romantic love and men.

One night in Ubud we had the chance to see Traditional Wayang kulit Show, shadow puppets of the famous Bali. Single Puppet Master works his magic behind the screen, using a kerosene lamp in the shadow puppets made of leather. Two assistants to dolls when he needed, but otherwise it’s a one-man show: The Puppet Master does all the puppets and all the characters voices often in several Indonesian languages, depending on the nature!
The night of wayang performance for entertainment. A translucent rice paper screen is illuminated by flickering candles and a husk of the coconut oil. Religieuses take place during the day. Often, these occur during or before a meeting of religious significance.

Only a puppeteer, called dalang placed on performance. This person, often a priest, is very respected in his community. The dalang, highly trained and talented individual and his responsibility is vast.The Daland indices of the orchestra with his feet as he improvised a complex web of intrigue with a simple plot. It must be capable of a different voice for each character, and physical performance throughout the night.
