Pendet Traditional Balinese Ritual Dance Performed During Temple Ceremony
Pendet is a traditional Balinese dance, in which the offer be made to purify the temple or theater as a prelude to ceremonies or other dances. Joged Bumbung is a style of gamelan music from Bali, Indonesia, mainly on instruments made of bamboo. The set takes its name from Joged a coquet often dance at festivals and parties. This style of gamelan is particularly popular in the north and west of Bali, but it is easy to find throughout the island. Unlike many styles of sacred Balinese Gamelan who have roles in religious festivals, Joged music is much more secular, and in many respects, became the popular music of Bali.
Bali Barong Dance
Barong is a character in the mythology of Bali. He is the king of the spirits, leader of the hosts of good, and enemy of Rangda in the mythological traditions of Bali.
The story goes that Rangda, the mother of Erlangga, King of Bali in the tenth century, was condemned by Erlangga father because she practiced black magic. Once a widow, she summoned all the evil spirits in the jungle, the leaks and the demons to come after Erlangga. A fight occurred, but she and her black magic troops were too strong that Erlangga had to ask for the help of Barong.
Kecak Dance
Kecak is the Balinese arts performances, which was created in the 1930’s and played mainly by men. These were dances by many (tens or more) male dancers who sit around and marching with a certain rhythm called “smack” and raising his arm, describes the story line of the Ramayana, Rama help primates against Rahwana.
