Goa Gajah – The Elephant Cave in Gianyar Bali
Visitors to Ubud can visit one of the most famous attractions of the region, the Elephant Cave Goa Gajah. It is located in a steep valley just outside of Ubud, near the town of Bedulu. Goa Gajah was built at least 700 years, the cave was rediscovered in the 1920s and fully excavated 30 years later. The entrance to the cave with his menancing face.

A beautifully carved entrance depicts entangling net leaves, rocks, animals, ocean waves and demonic human shapes running from the gaping mouth which forms the entrance to the cave. You can make the profile of an elephant, if you look at the face the hair, the elephant trunk is hanging over his right ear.
The head of Kala trades appears over the entrance to the part of the rock with his hands. Similarly decorated hermit cells are also found in Java. Large earrings to indicate that this figure is that of a woman. The T-shaped interior of the rock-hewn cave niches which probably served as contained compartments for ascetics.

Balinese legend Kebo Iwa carved in the cave with his nails in just 1 night. The Lingga Shiva (Hindu stone phallic symbol representing fertility), of which there are 3, are located at the end of the right turn. At the end of the turn to the left is a statue of Ganesha. Shiva (the Destroyer) is of course death.
