Bali Art Festival 2009 with more than 180 performances

>As part of its campaign to tight schedule, President Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono opened the annual Festival of the Arts in Denpasar Bali, June 13 The month-long festival will present 180 performances of art 12 provinces in Indonesia and eight countries – South Korea, Taiwan, Japan, Thailand, India, China and Mexico and the United States.

Bali Arts Festival adopt a somewhat different approach compared to previous years. In the past, the president, ministers and ambassadors visiting attended the midday opening parade. “While the parade will take place as usual, the plan of this event which will be opened by the Governor Made Mangku Pastika to invite local dignitaries and artists from Bali”, said Made Santha.

Despite this slight modification, the top five items on the agenda of Bali Arts Festival will not be amended to include culture parade, shows, competitions, meetings and seminars, and an exhibition of handicrafts and small industries’ craft items. The cultural parade will begin on June 13 in front of the building at Jaya Sabha Renon and head towards Taman Budaya, a distance of about 1.5 km and 1 km from Gajah Mada, where Gajah Mada Town Festival was held last year, 2008.

During the past seven years the opening of the Arts Festival in Bali took place at Niti Mandala Renon opposite the sandhi Bajra Monument. The return of the opening at the front of the building Jaya Sabha follows the tradition established in 1978 by the founder of the festival, the end of the Governor of Bali, Professor Ida Bagus Mandra.

The change reflects the wishes of many people in Bali, a change that has received the blessing of Made Mangku Pastika Governor and Deputy Governor AAN Puspayoga.

The Arts Festival in Bali is one month’s program of seminars and cultural presentations by Balinese artists joined by arts troupes from abroad and across the nation of Indonesia.
