Bali adviced tourists to not come to the Bali during Nyepi Day (March 26, 2009)
Domestic and foreign tourists have been advised to not come to the resort island of Bali in the Hindu holiday Nyepi, which falls on Thursday, as local authorities are planning to stop all public services during the day. Both air and sea transport to and from this island, should be available 24 hours starting at 06:00 local time on Thursday.

Local authorities plan to close the Ngurah Rai International Airport throughout the day, as well as Seaport in Benoa Denpasar, Celukan Bawang Seaport in Buleleng, Gilimanik Padang Bai Seaport and Seaport. Management informed the visitors come to Bali on Wednesday, before midnight – because avoid to get stuck in Gilamanuk or Padangbai ports, which will have no transport.
Observers mark Nyepi would remain completely silent, and at night, while in total darkness. Most balinese stay indoors and tourists are asked to keep a low profile. More than three million balinese Hindus are expected to observe the holiday, which marks the New Year 1931 in Saka calendar.
